There are many methods being used today by people for weight loss. Most health professionals recommend sticking to a healthy balanced diet with regular exercise but many people want a quick fix. It can be frustrating, losing weight slowly and having to watch what you eat all of the time.
Sometimes it is nice to have a little treat but then you have to pay the price afterwards. Some people do some sort of detox in order to cleanse the body after this sort of binge or if they want to lose weight fast. I know people who drink nothing but water for a day and then eat just fruit and vegetables for a week as a sort of detox or colon cleanse.
Now this would certainly help weight loss because you would be unlikely to consume as many calories if you were just eating fruit and vegetables. However, unless you lead an extremely unhealthy lifestyle then a detox is not really beneficial. If you drink lots of alcohol and smoke then your will have a lot of toxins in your body and giving those up will be enough of a detox for you without having to give up food as well. Some foods are not as good for you as others but if you change your diet so that you are eating more healthily, so lots of fruit and vegetables, wholegrain cereals, low fat dairy, lean meat and oily fish and cut down on the foods that are high in fats, salt and sugar then this should be enough to give the body the boost that it needs.
Even if you are not overweight, switching to a healthier eating pattern will benefit you as it is possible to have high cholesterol, diabetes and heart disease even if you are not overweight. You may feel that a healthy lifestyle is boring but you will soon adjust your palate especially if you spend some time looking for new recipes.
I gave up eating sugar when I was eighteen years old as I had an intolerance to it. It took me years to get used to the taste of certain foods without it but there are alternatives and now I find that if I eat something with a high percentage of sugar in, it tastes bitter as well as sweet.
This is an extreme move, which was necessary for me, but you could try just altering a few things in your diet and seeing what a difference it can make to how you feel.
