I was recently reading about someone who went on a colon cleansing holiday.
It was a weeks detox where they ate very little apart from supplements and drank a lot of fluids including things which helped to cleanse the colon.
They also did some colonic irrigation several times a day. There were quite a mix of people there with him. They ranged from really fit and healthy people who saw this as part of their healthy lifestyle and actually made it a regularly thing, to people who were very unhealthy and used it to reduce the toxins in their body, but went back to their old habits straight after again.
It is interesting that even people who lead really healthy lifestyles felt that they would benefit from the treatment, when I would not have thought they would have had that many toxins in their bodies. The writer of the article said that he did not enjoy the process that much, especially towards the middle of the week when he felt unwell with a runny nose and sore sinuses which was apparently another way that the toxins were leaving his body. By the end of the week though he was feeling really energised and refreshed and actually changed his lifestyle as a result of it.
He stopped eating so much meat and reduced the amount of alcohol he drank a little bit, ate more fruit and veg and more fish. It is interesting that this exercise could lead someone who was completely sceptical about the whole idea to change his way of living and thinking.
To me that implied that he was really pleased with the results or else he would not have felt that it was worth while changing. This was obviously just the experience of one individual and the person that he went with was not so keen, went off the site and broke his fast sometimes and did not change his lifestyle afterwards. The most amazing story was the man who had swallowed a marble as a child and it was lodged in his colon. During the colon cleanse week, he managed to pass it.
I suppose that until you actually experience something like this for yourself, you will never know what an effect it will have on you and whether you will feel better for it and change to a more healthy way of living after the detox.
